Established in 1480, The Talbot Inn is a traditional yet stylish coaching inn located in Mells, a historic village in the beautiful Somerset countryside, just two hours from London and just twenty minutes from Bath. The pub has a cosy main bar stocked with local ales, a restaurant and grill room both serving unpretentious pub food, a sun-filled cobbled courtyard and a beautiful garden perfect for the warmer months.

Dan has long shunned his native Yorkshire for the idyll of Mells bringing not just his warm nature but also a full range of facial hair styles into The South West. The consummate publican and family man – if that is a phrase.

Ashley started her hospitality career in South Africa, aged 18. For Ash, family is everything, and we love having her as part of ours. From answering the phone to saying goodbye, she will make sure you leave with the best memories possible.

Nathan

/ Landlord

Nathan is pictured in The Talbot garden at just four months old, so it's no wonder that he is the Landlord of this lovely pub. Mells born and bred, you can ask Nathan absolutely anything about the area. He loves food, drink and making people happy, so you'll be sure to leave with a full belly & heart.

Faye

Caring and simply delightful, a guest was heard to say about Faye and it is indeed true. Faye has worked at The Talbot for many years (and we hope many more to come) and so you can ask her about obscure local things to do.

The bringer of a little Andalusian sunshine (and sometimes a lot) into even the coolest of Mells winters’ nights. With a scrupulous eye for detail and care for everything we produce she keeps everyone in check even the head chef.

Like all chefs David loves his food, he also loves producing great food for our guests with the abundance of local produce literally on our doorstep. He’s worked in many great kitchens and all his experience culminates at The Talbot.
